Dale Pro Audio Brings Comrex World Tour to NYC

Dale teamed up with our partners at Comrex Corporation and All Mobile Video to present the Opal and Access NX World Tour at the Helen Mills Theater in Manhattan. The fully catered afternoon was an opportunity for broadcast professionals to get a first look at some of the new products that Comrex has on the horizon over some food and drink.

On hand from Comrex were their Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Chris Crump and Technical Director Tom Hartnett, taking attendees on a tour of two new products - the Opal IP Gateway and the Access NX Portable IP Codec. Also on display was their already popular LiveShot video codec.

Representatives of Dale Pro Audio included Joe Prout, Tim Finnegan, David Prentice, Joel Guilbert, and Eric Eldredge.

The Opal is an all-new IP gateway codec that employs the Opus technology already present in leading web browsers to allow remote calls in high-quality audio. This greatly improves the incoming audio from the talent, making it an ideal "must-have" product for broadcast shows getting call-ins from athletes/sports analysts, political figures, and so on. It's equipped with dual audio in and out channels for flexible mix and mix-minus routing, and the browser-based interface on the caller end means the talent can connect with no hassles and no on-site engineering.

ACCESS NX expands on Comrex's best-selling ACCESS 2USB, offering broadcasters a field audio codec that's reliable, powerful, and simple to use. Using available IP pathways such as Ethernet, or 3G/4G via a Comrex-designed LTE modem, the NX will be of great interest for applications such as ENG, remote feeds for news, sports, and other live events. A 5-inch capacitive touch screen gives the user immediate access to all functions and displays all relevant information for signal strength, audio levels, etc. An optional add-on mixer provides additional controls and inputs for more extensive remote rigs.

"We're really happy to bring this new and exciting technology to the media capital of the world", remarks Crump. "We're thrilled to have had our great partners with us this afternoon to help us launch these innovative new products".

Joel Guilbert on what these technologies will bring: "We're excited to help our broadcast customers leverage these new products in an effort to make their jobs easier. We're happy to have partnered on this event with Comrex!"

Comrex expects to ship the ACCESS NX in July, and the Opal in the early fall.
