Dale and Avid Present: Pro Tools|HDX & Pro Tools 10 - Better, Faster, and
Avid returned to the AES Convention in New York with
major announcements of new software (Pro Tools 10) and new
hardware (HDX). The company laid out a technology path,
time-line, and upgrade offers to help any existing Pro Tools user move to new
Dale Pro Audio will partner with Avid on Tuesday, November 29th, to
show both the new hardware and the new software.
This is your opportunity to see a presentation of the benefits
available to all Pro Tools users with these exciting new announcements!
How could Avid top last year’s announcement of Pro
Tools 9 software with support for stand-alone and 3rd party interfaces?
How about a new HDX card with 3-5 times the DSP power, 2 times
the voices, and double the I/O of the TDM cards it replaces? How about a
new 32-bit floating point mixer with dramatic headroom? And how about a new
64-bit ready plug-in architecture – AAX – for
dramatically increased DSP efficiency?
Avid coupled the new hardware with a new release of
software - ProTools 10 – that works with the new HDX
card; the HD Native card; with audio interfaces from
Avid, M-Audio, or a third-party; or with no other
hardware than your computer. Pro Tools 10 introduces new
editing features, new plug-ins, over 500 Pro Tools functions in EuCon,
and new capabilities for speeding playback of large sessions and for working
with shared storage.
There will be representatives from Avid attending along with
the Sales and Technical representatives from Dale to
demonstrate the power of the new system and to answer your questions about the
special Pro Tools 10 software pricing and the upgrade options
for adding Pro Tools 10 and HDX to your

Canare MC Star Quad Packaged Microphone Cable
Canare's Star Quad microphone cable has been a standard for
studios and broadcast facilities for years. Star Quad cable (also
referred to as L-4E6S) is designed for use with microphones and line
level applications. Star-Quad gets its name from the 4-conductor style
construction that minimizes the "loop area" between twists of the conductors.
This "double balanced" pairing reduces susceptibility to electromagnetically
induced noise. The Star Quad configuration plus high shield density
reduces hum and noise to less than 1/10 that of conventional 2-conductor mic
cables. With Star Quad you are assued that you are using the most
effective mic cable for blocking induced electromagnetic and electrostatic
Canare's new MC Star Quad microphone cables come conveniently assembled and
packaged at a price that is more affordable than ever. The cables
include high quality connectors and all of the benefits that Star Quad
delivers - durability, noise cancellation, and excellent frequency response.

Retro Instruments Doublewide 500 Series Compressor
It all started with the
Phil Moore, the owner and designer at Retro Instruments, set out to recreate
the classic Gates Sta-Level.
Phil comes from a broadcast background, building and maintaining radio
stations in Northern California. Being a fan of vintage gear, the place to go
with his product was the recording studio.
Phil took his Retro Sta-Level to the TapeOpCon in Tucson Arizona, it was a big
hit, and he found that there was quite a bit of interest in equipment built like
he knows best, using tubes and transformers.
Retro Instruments is built on gear that has its roots in the past, but with
new features for the modern studio. The user list of Retro Instrument gear is a
"Who's Who" of industry professionals; many top artists, engineers, and
producers have discovered what makes Retro something they can't live without.
More and more of the "gray gear with the big meter" is showing up in racks and
studios around the world.
Doublewide Compressor is Retro's first module for the 500 series format. It
is a 2 slot, mono, variable-mu tube compressor designed specifically for this
format. It is not a 500 series Sta-Level, although they do share some similar
characteristics. With the popularity of the 500 series format, the Doublewide
comes in at a price point where it can be the Retro piece for the masses.
Like all other Retro Instrument products, the Doublewide is hand built and
tested in the U.S.A.
